Advanced Group Training Program for Bus Operators

Over the last 20 years Blue Tongue has upskilled over 950 workers for the mining and energy sectors. Blue Tongue is pleased to announce its new strategic alliance with Go West Tours, to deliver our new Bus Operator Advanced Group Training Program.

It can be challenging finding an opportunity as a Bus Operator in the Western Australian resources industry without mine site experience.

Blue Tongue, in partnership with Go West Tours, have designed an innovate recruitment process where successful applicants are invited to our Training & Assessment Centre where we train and test each candidate to perform the role of a FIFO Bus Operator.

Through the program, candidates will be trained to be site ready and engaged for further training in a real-world environment.

Program Structure

Successful applicants will join Blue Tongue’s Bus Operator Advanced Group Training Program.
Initially, you will be paid as a Blue Tongue employee on a training basis.
Blue Tongue then assists with your transition to work directly with our Client. You will be provided with accompanied training on site during your first swing.
Successful operators are then employed in a casual recruitment pool. Operators in this pool are selected for shutdown & relief opportunity at various Tier 1 mining sites.
Rostered opportunities are offered to candidates within this pool with the oldest contract date. Rosters on a 2 week on, 1 week off basis are available.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide quality customer service to passengers.
Ensure all work is carried out promptly, efficiently and on time.
Inspect and monitor general conditions of the passenger vehicle including pre-departure checks and report known defects.
Ensure safe working practices and a safe work environment are maintained.
Use all safety equipment appropriate to the tasks being performed.
Identify and report risks, assist in implementing corrective action and monitor where required.
Yard and vehicle cleaning and washing.
Participate in team meetings.
Take part in additional training as required by Go West.

Candidate Requirements

Mine site Bus Operators are responsible for providing quality customer service and operating Go West vehicles in a safe and economical manner. To ensure that all vehicles are of the level required and in accordance with both Workplace Health & Safety requirements and documented Go West policies and procedures.

Ability to prioritise accordingly and meet deadlines.
Good communication skills.
Customer satisfaction.
Compliance with traffic regulations.
Assumes responsibility for the safety of passengers.

Qualifications, Skills and Personal Attributes

A current MR, HR, HC or MC class license.
A current PTD Endorsement.
A good understanding of the business’ service products.
Willingness and ability to continue to learn and contribute to the business.
