Why Upskilling is the best way to strengthen your capabilities and build the workforce of the future.
Blue Tongue’s GM, Ben Warner, is thrilled to be in Canada to roll out our groundbreaking Mechanical Upgrade Program to the Canadian Market.
This world-first initiative was conceptualized in Australia during a two-decades-long critical skills shortage, where top-tier mining companies were struggling to fill Heavy Duty Equipment Technician roles. As a result, business suffered. These companies were fully reliant on expensive external subcontractors, which led to labour costs becoming unfeasible and internal workplace culture deteriorating.
That’s when we at Blue Tongue saw the opportunity for our upskilling initiative so that companies could improve their internal heavy equipment maintenance capabilities – they could increase workforce retention and improve workplace culture – all while reducing labour costs.
The program works like this: We hire experienced Automotive Service Mechanics to train with us, both via our industry-leading technology and trusted training partners, as well as onsite with top-tier clients. This way, they can eventually become fully qualified and highly skilled Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics.
Upskilling Automotive mechanics is a smart and strategic investment by companies who want to build workforces for the future, and Blue Tongue the market leader in employee development to enhance organizational capabilities, loyalty, and employee job satisfaction. We’ve seen unparalleled results from the partnerships with our clients, such as a 93% program completion and employee retention rate, with 80% of employees still working with our clients four years later.
By providing an advanced training pathway we are helping organizations build a highly skilled and qualified workforce that is adaptable, motivated, and more likely to stay with you for the long term. This approach not only improves work quality and reduces turnover but also strengthens the company’s reputation as a desirable employer, ultimately fostering a more productive and committed team.
